Despite his fellow soldiers’ warnings not to, a young, inexperienced soldier fed a snake, and a few days later, a horrible thing happened to him 😨😱

The soldiers had been accustomed to serving in the middle of a vast, deserted area with no people for miles around. The only sounds that disturbed the quiet were the wind, a few birds, and the occasional stray animal.

The service was quiet and unremarkable, yet it was just that routine that drained them. The men missed their families and any sign of a human face, and they were bored and homesick. Only tents and a never-ending wait that seemed to throb in their ears—no communication, no news, no entertainment.

They got supplies, water, and messages from home every Sunday, but the week in between seemed to drag on forever.

Everyone looked for something to do, whether it was polishing their boots till they were shiny, reading the same book over, or simply sitting by the campfire and staring into space.

A new, inexperienced recruit who had just arrived, one of the soldiers saw something odd next to his tent one early morning. There was a large black snake curled closely on the dry ground about a meter from his boots.

It just watched him without hissing or striking. The young man froze, yet he had a strange feeling of sympathy rather than dread. The snake’s eyes appeared weary and hungry rather than malevolent.

He gently extended his hand and took a slice of bread from his pocket, which was leftover from dinner. After standing motionless for a while, the snake slithered forward gently, ate the bread, and vanished.

His fellows simply shook their heads when they learned.

– “Are you insane?” The sergeant said. “It’s a snake,” It’s risky. You don’t give them food.

The young man only grinned, though.

— She was hungry, so hurry up. All I wanted to do was assist.

That was the end of it, and he had already forgotten the odd morning a few days later. However, a few days later, a horrible incident occurred.

There was a slight rustle coming from within his tent in the middle of the night, when the camp was quiet. The young soldier initially believed it to be the wind. He opened his eyes, however, and froze in fear as the sound got closer.

Dozens of snakes slithered about him, seemingly emerging from the darkness. As black as the first one, all of them. They hissed, moving in perfect harmony, and there appeared to be recognition in their icy eyes.

He tried not to move too quickly as he gently sat up, but the snakes were already all around him. When he realized they were there to eat, he started looking wildly for anything—a crumb, a piece of bread, anything.

However, nothing remained from the meal. The young man realized what was about to happen when the first snake raised its head and flicked its tongue in the air.

The hissing increased in volume. All of the snakes suddenly moved and attacked, biting him.

When his other soldiers realized the young man was missing from the lineup in the morning, they proceeded to inspect his tent. His eyes were open as his body lay at the door, and his skin was speckled with scores of tiny, nearly perfect bite marks.

There were simply meandering paths in the dust that led to the forest, and no snakes in the area.

No one ever again dared to feed wild animals after that day.
